Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant
513 North Main Street | Washington, LA 70589

Settled in 1720, the town of Washington is the third oldest settlement in Louisiana and home to Louisiana's most original and unusual dining experience. Construction on the Steamboat Warehouse began in 1819 and was completed around 1823. Of the original seven warehouses operating on the banks of Bayou Courtableau, formerly known as the Opelousas River, the Steamboat Warehouse is the only one still standing. When the railroad chose Opelousas for its local route in 1900, the steamboat's whistles were silenced. Since then, the warehouse has fulfilled many functions ranging from a feed mill to a general store. Restored to its original shape in 1977, the Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant remains a feast for the eyes and appetite. It combines the rustic atmosphere of historic yesteryear with wonderful regional cuisine that is Louisiana at its finest. A full service bar is available as well as a private dining room. Enjoy classic cuisine in the historic Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant. Bon Appetit!

Soileau’s Dinner Club
1618 North Main Street | Opelousas, LA 70570

In 1937, Clarence Soileau opened his first restaurant in Opelousas serving mainly bar-be-que chicken dinners-half of a chicken with trimmings for 35 cents. Even then, the popular “bar-be-que stand” was known as Soileau’s Dinner Club. In 1942, the restaurant temporarily closed due to the war. and reopened in 1946 at which time Clarence took on a partner, his brother-in-law, Clifton Veillon, Sr. The restaurant was enlarged and the menu expanded to include seafood, steaks, and other specialties. In 1962, the restaurant was gutted by fire which forced Clarence and Cliff to rebuild at a new location but it still remained on Main Street in St. Landry Parish, which is presently the family restaurant’s location. In 1979, Clarence’s son, Scott Soileau, became part of the business operation along with Cliff's son, Clifton Veillon, Jr. The two sons carried on the family tradition after Clarence and Cliff retired. In July 2001, the partnership was mutually dissolved and the Soileaus retained sole ownership. Scott Soileau and his wife, Beth, now in their 29th year, maintain and operate the well-known family restaurant 7 days a week. Soileau's was inducted into the Louisiana Restaurant Hall of Fame in 2001.
Nick’s on Second Street Restaurant
123 South 2nd Street | Eunice, LA 70535

Nick's Bar was opened in 1937 by Nick Ferro and Blackie Guillory. For many years, it was only open to men, who would play dominos and bouree while enjoying cool refreshments and conversation. It was once a two story building. During prohibition, the upstairs was used for serving alcohol while the downstairs remained the area for card playing. When the revenuers arrived, the bartender would sound a buzzer and the upstairs activity would cease. Still remaining today is the original bar which was brought to Eunice by a horse drawn wagon. Other points of interest are the three original paintings by T.L. Lewis dated 1938. It is believed that Mr. Lewis was a traveling artist who painted these pictures for drinks and meals. In 2003, Sunny & Dexter Guillory acquired the building adjacent to Nick's, making a dance hall/bar second to none around, hosting musicians such as Geno Delafose, Steve Riley, Travis Matte, Jamie Bergeron and the like, for Saturday evening dances. Tuesday & Thursday evening Jam Sessions with local musicians are also a popular event at Nick's. Guests also enjoy the peaceful yet colorful New Orleans-style courtyard to sit and visit with friends while enjoying Southern refreshments.
