Experience the charm of a by gone era and genuine Cajun Hospitality at the historic Conrad Rice Mill in New Iberia, Louisiana. Built from cypress and tin in 1912, the mill is America's oldest continuously operating rice mill and was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981. It is significant because it is a rare surviving example of a factory using turn-of-the-century belt-driven power transmission. Most of the mill's original equipment is still in use today. Tours of the mill begin next door at the KONRIKO Company Store, a replica of an early plantation company store. The store is stocked with our KONRIKO, HOL-GRAIN and RM QUIGG'S rice and seasoning products as well as many other local foods, craft and souvenir items. Complimentary samples of one of the mill's rice mixes and hot Cajun coffee are always available for tasting. The tour starts with a 20-minuted slide presentation of the Cajun Culture and how it evolved. Local guides then explain how rice is grown and harvested before moving visitors to the mill to view the production going on in the mill that day - which can range from milling rice, to packaging seasoning, to making rice crackers.

Fremin’s Restaurant
402 West 3rd Street | Thibodaux, LA 70301
985-449-0333 | http://www.fremins.net
Fremin's Restaurant is located in historic downtown Thibodaux and is housed in one of Thibodaux's cornerstone landmarks, formally known as "The Roth Drugstore." Mr. E. N. Roth, Sr. built the original three-story building in 1878. As you enjoy the wonderful ambiance of Fremin's Restaurant, you may sit and daydream of the generations of doctors, war heroes, farmers, politicians, and famous aristocrats who gathered here to make their living through bartering. Visualize looking through the beveled glass storefront to witness the changes in day-to-day history of Main Street Thibodauxville. Imagine the horse drawn carriages to the first automobiles that traveled on the dirt roads through Main Street as you socialize with the melting pot of the community. In 1998, the Fremin brothers of Thibodaux purchased the building with the commitment to restore it to its original decor. Every effort was made to bring the building back to the grandeur of the 19th century. From fresh baked bread and flavored butters to an array of signature dishes of pasta, salads, seafood, and steaks, the marriage of Creole style and Italian cooking come together in perfect harmony. Their team of culinary experts, headed by Executive Chef Kevin Templet, create extravagant meals of exquisite renditions of many past favorites. Fremin's Restaurant also features an extensive drink menu. Bartenders, like chemists from the drugstore era, feature special concoctions that will have you believing the drugstore still exists by, "aiding what ails you."
